The longer the essay, the better.
The idea
Moving or cutting one paragraph changes what the reader feels first and what they remember; what a writer leaves out is a choice too.
Explain it
Take an essay you wrote. Find one paragraph that could go without hurting the feeling, and say what the reader would feel first and remember last once it is cut.
Try at home
Write a small event from your week on four or five slips of paper, one paragraph each. Read it aloud to your family in different orders, then take one slip away. Which order makes them want to hear more?
